How good is your hydration? Did you drink 1.6l of water yesterday? Our guess is no! Don’t worry. You’re not alone. In fact, over 95% of people in a recent poll admitted to being under hydrated.
65% of the body and 75% of the brain are made up of water. It’s therefore vital you keep it topped up to maintain cognitive and physical performance through out the day. Did you know dehydration of only 1-2% can affect performance by a staggering 25%? Madness huh!
Here’s 4 hydration hacks to keep you chirpy throughout the day!
1. Carry a water bottle
This is THE best and most important thing to do. We love this BPA free bottle from our chums over at Frank Water.
2. Start with water
Kick start your day with a glass of the clear stuff. Through respiration (breathing out) and transpiration (sweating) we can lose up to 500ml (sorry, that morning weight loss is probably just water loss)!
Water helps your body flush out toxins, gives your brain fuel, and may even make you eat less. Winner!
3. Add flavour
No this isn’t a shameless plug for our Stix! Water alone can be a little boring and therefore adding in a low calorie flavour without sugar is a great way of encouraging yourself to stay hydrated!
4. Eat to hydrate!
Consuming the right foods can help boost hydration levels, and guess what, Grandma was right, you need to eat your vegetables! Eating 2-3 servings of fruit or veg can provide your body with the minerals it needs to help your body absorb and use water properly.
Fancy a challenge? Try drinking 1.6L of water everyday for 14 days and see how improved hydration makes you feel!
